SCENIC CORRIDOR

DESCRIPTION
This enormous public works project consists
of 23 kilometers (16 miles) of four- to-eight lane, American-style highway,
and connects the tourist town of San Carlos to Highway 15,the international
highway to Arizona. The highway goes all the way to Algodones Beach
and the Club Med, weaving through desert that hugs the ocean. It includes
a number of turn-arounds and bike paths. Dotting the road are 2,200
palm trees and plants typical of the region. It is a lighted road that
is just yards from hotels, motels, two marinas and shopping centers
in San Carlos. The Scenic Corridor also takes the visitor alongside
Tetakawi hill, easily the most recognizeable feature of the entire beautiful

ACTIVITIES
The visitor to San Carlos may rent bicycles or ATVs. There is golf, horseback riding and a variety of other outdoor sports. RECOMMENDATIONS Please respect all the traffic signals and don’t take any of the plants from the earth. HOW TO GET HERE Sonora is located in the northwest of
Mexico. It borders Arizona to the north and northwest; Chihuahua to
the east; Sinaloa to the south; and Baja California and the Gulf of
California to the west and northwest. The town of San Carlos, legally
a part of the Municipality of Guaymas, is located in the southwestern
corner of Sonora. |
