Owing to the tourist potential of San Carlos Nuevo Guaymas, the government of the state promoted the widening and improvement of the road linking San Carlos to Carretera 15, the international highway that connects Sonora to Arizona. This four- to eight-lane road takes the visitor from the international highway (Carretera 15) north to Algodones Beach and the so-called Catch 22 Beach, where the movie Catch 22 was filmed.
